Study Optometry in the UK

Optometry program, at Ulster University, is considered to be one the oldest schools in the UK. The program was established in 1995 and is approved by the General Optical Council for training professional optometrists. Students can graduate with following degrees;

• BSc Hons in Optometry
• Masters in Optometry (MOptom) Hons.

It is 3 or 4 years program. Both the three-year BSc Hons or four-year Masters in Optometry (MOptom) Hons provide a diverse but structured curriculum of teaching, learning and assessment, enabling students to develop knowledge, skills and understanding of the subject.

A variety of teaching and learning methods are utilized including lectures, laboratory-based practical and an extensive range of clinical work. Much of the clinical teaching is undertaken in Ulster University’s Optometry Clinic.

BSc (Hons) / MOptom – 3/4 years

1. All school graduates are eligible to apply directly. The entrance requirement varies from university to university. On average, you need to have atleast 75% in your high school diploma, however, you must have Chemistry, Physic or Biology at high end i.e. 80% or above.

2. Despite students do not require to appear in any sort of entrance test, though, Interview is a pivotal element in selection process.

3. Both BSc (Hons) /MOptom starts in September.

4. All BSc (Hons)/MOptom applications have to go through UCAS. Ulster program code is B510. You only can submit UCAS application ONLY once in one academic year. Therefore, it is important to make sure application is correctly filled.
